CFS: Colloquium at the Udmurt State University: Izhevsk, Russia

The Institute of History and Sociology of the Udmurt State University will hold a series of events during the "Mayer Week" on December 10-14 2018, dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of the scholar of medieval studies, Professor Wilhelm (Vasily) Evgen'evich Mayer (1918-1985).

The following events will be held within the framework of the "Mayer Week”:

- Presentation of the book "V.E. Mayer. Selected Works "and the latest publications on V.E. Mayer and his work

- Scientific colloquium "Matters of the scientific heritage of Professor V.E. Mayer and the teaching of the history and culture of the Middle Ages" (with the publication of materials)

- Web conference on the matters of world history with the participation of Professor Goettingen University (Göttingen, Germany) Martina Tamke

- Exhibition "100th anniversary of Professor V.E. Mayer " in the Scientific-Educational and Exposition Center of UdSU

- An exhibition of documents from the personal fund of Professor V.E. Mayer in the SCU "Center for Documentation of the Modern History of the Udmurt Republic"

- Republican Scientific and Practical Conference of university and high school students "Mayer Readings"

- High school students creative competition of research works dedicated to the fields of "History and culture of the Middle Ages" and "Local History"

- Presentation of the scientific theater "German walks ..."

We would like to extend an invitation to participate in “Mayer Week” to students of Prof. Mayer, researchers of medieval Germany and Europe, scholars studying the history of Russians of German descent. We welcome a participation of academic scholars, professors, museum and library employees, teachers of history and social sciences and high school students interested in this topic.

Participation can be in-person or without presence by pre-submitting the text and presentation materials.

As an outcome of the scientific colloquium, we will publish presented material online. Texts of up to 20,000 characters must contain the UDC code, title, abstract (up to 100 words), keywords (up to 10) - in Russian, English or German, footnotes, and at the end of the list - bibliography listed alphabetically.


Applications for participation in the "Mayer Week" (with the first name, last name, place of work, occupation, contact addresses, title of the presentation (if available) and materials for publication) must be submitted by November 1, 2018 to: UdSU, Institute of History and Sociology.
