Link
The Department of History at Macalester College
announces an opening for a two-year Wallin
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Russian/Modern
European History, to begin in Fall 2019. Applicants
should have a PhD at the time of appointment in the
field of Russian history. The annual starting salary for
the position is $70,000, plus full benefits and funds to
support research and travel. The successful candidate
would teach courses that would cover Russia and
modern Europe. We welcome candidates with a
secondary specialization in another field, such as
environmental studies, urban studies, Jewish studies,
digital humanities, Eurasian history, or the history of
science and technology. We welcome candidates who
complement but do not replicate existing strengths in
the History department. Scholarly promise, college
teaching experience, and knowledge of current
pedagogical methodologies are highly desirable. The
position entails teaching three courses per year, at
least two of which could be cross-listed with the
Russian Studies department. We are looking for
dynamic, broadly trained, theoretically informed
scholar-teachers who are committed to the study of
Russian history as an integral part of the
undergraduate liberal arts curriculum.
