Job Summary
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) invites applications for Global Alumni and Employer Engagement Regional Manager in the LSA Opportunity Hub. The Opportunity Hub reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Development and Career Initiatives and is housed under the LSA Dean’s Office. The Opportunity Hub is a transformational initiative to encourage all students to connect their liberal arts and sciences education with their goals and aspirations. Hub staff collaborate with campus partners to facilitate access to experiential learning opportunities both on and off campus, funding, employer partnerships, and alumni mentors. Through these channels, the Opportunity Hub helps students explore challenging, diverse opportunities, discover what matters most to them in their education and beyond, and put their liberal arts and sciences education to work.

Responsibilities*
The Global Alumni and Employer Engagement Regional Manager will develop alumni and employer connections for the LSA Opportunity Hub from a liberal arts, student-centered perspective. The Regional Manager will utilize processes, structures and systems to identify, engage, foster and track alumni and employer relationships and connect them to students. To this end, the Regional Manager will work with the Hub team and, in particular, Internship Program and Student Engagement staff to connect internship, mentoring and employment opportunities to students. This position will also work closely with the LSA Advancement team to coordinate the connections and stewardship of our alumni relationships.The Global Alumni and Employer Engagement Regional Manager will report to the Director of Alumni and Employer Engagement.
Alumni and Employer Relationship Development, Engagement and Outreach - 50%
- Develop and manage a large regional employer relationship portfolio including several international and US regions
- Conduct regular meetings with alumni and employers in person and by phone to build a portfolio and maintain current relationships
- Target a selection of employers desiring to hire LSA students for site visits and relationship building
- Represent the LSA Opportunity Hub and the College of LSA as needed in various settings and formats (i.e. written communications, presentations, small group discussions, one on one in-person meetings and phone calls)
- Create opportunities for alumni and employer site visits for the Hub team, LSA faculty and LSA Advancement staff as needed
- Advise employers on appropriate recruiting methods based on organizational needs and students' interests
- Engage with alumni and employers to identify and determine the strengths and challenges of LSA candidates, providing feedback to the Hub Student Engagement and Internship Program staff to enhance student outcomes
- Assist the LSA Advancement and Recruitment efforts at off-campus events for alumni and prospective students in the region as needed
- With direction of Hub leadership, identify opportunities for partnerships as needed and feasible with peer institutions related to employer and alumni development
- Travel within region as needed (approximately 2-3 trips / year)
On-campus alumni, employer and Hub coordination and collaboration - 45%
- Collaborate with Hub staff to create employer recruitment activities on campus including presentations, workshops, small group sessions, interviews and site visits
- Maintain relationships and update all profile information and documentation for alumni and employers with support from Hub Coordinator for Alumni and Employer Engagement
- Act as host and engage with alumni and employers during campus visits to the Hub
- Collaborate with administrative, communications, and events staff to oversee coordination and logistics for alumni and employer campus visits
- Engage students, faculty and Hub staff in the employer relationship development process and facilitate the matching of opportunities and organizations with student needs
- Facilitate strategic communication to LSA departments and campus partners to promote opportunities available to students relevant to academic and programmatic areas
- Identify opportunities for partnerships on campus in activities related to alumni and employer engagement
- Provide relevant data and information about regional work and outcomes to support Hub communications and marketing needs
- Coordinate with LSA department liaisons to make connections between alumni and employers
Professional Development 5%
- Attend workshops, trainings, institutes, and conferences related to the profession and Hub mission
- Actively engage and contribute to the profession at campus, local, regional, and/or national level
- Be an active member of related professional organizations
- Attend meetings, represent LSA & Hub interests, and participate in sub-committee partnership work within the Career Services Network, a professional network of University of Michigan Administrators
- Remain current on research, scholarship, and best practices related to the liberal arts and sciences, higher education, and position specific requirements
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years experience in an educational or employer setting, working with alumni and/or employers
- Ability to travel as needed within global or US regions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents and effective relationship management
- Commitment to meeting the unique needs of LSA students, LSA alumni and employers
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style with a high level of maturity, professionalism, and diplomacy
- Appreciation for the liberal arts and sciences and an interest in the educational/professional goals of liberal arts students
- Excellent communication skills
- Successful experience working in a collaborative, team environment
- High level of organizational ability, including the ability to organize and coordinate a diverse workload with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to act independently, take initiative and promote innovation
- Flexibility to meet changing priorities
- Demonstrated investment in issues of equity, access and inclusion
Desired Qualifications*
- Master’s degree in higher education, liberal arts or related field
- Experience in business development, recruiting, corporate relations, employer relations, alumni relations, college relations or other related fields
- Demonstrated experience with higher education systems, policies, and procedures
- Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish
- Proficiency with contact management systems
- Ability to successfully articulate the mission and vision of LSA and the Opportunity Hub
Additional Information
The Global Alumni and Employer Engagement Regional Manager will be based in the Hub in Ann Arbor, MI and will travel as needed.
