CFP: International Conference Polish and Belarusian Connections: Literature and Language

Deadline: February 28, 2018

The International Conference Polish and Belarusian Connections: Literature and Language is organised by the Chair of Belarusian Studies, University of Warsaw, Poland.

The conference will be held on 29th and 30th March 2019 in Warsaw. We would like to invite scholars with various approaches to Polish and Belarusian connections viewed from a range of intra- and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The language of the conference is Polish, English and Belarusian.
This conference, similar to the previous conferences organised by the Chair of
Belarusian Studies, will be devoted to the common heritage of both Poland and Belarus analysed from the point of view of their literature and languages, i.e. different aspects that both nations share. The proximity of these two languages and cultures has led to establishing a specific form of dialogue and integration, developing interrelationships and, as a result, creating new and different qualities.

The fates of Belarusians and Poles have been entwined for centuries, which has provided stimuli to creativity and artistic passion. A great many Polish national activists, writers or artists were born in the territory of today's Belarus, whereas Belarusian ones within the former borders of Poland, which encourages scholars on both sides of the border to search for new perspectives of analysing Polish and Belarusian connections.

Scholars and researchers from both Poland and Belarus as well as other countries will have a great opportunity to present the most recent results of their studies during plenary sessions as well as two parallel panels on literature studies and linguistics.

The standard length of plenary talks will be 20 minutes; presentations within panels should not exceed 15 minutes.

Registration Forms should be submitted to konferencjakb@gmail.com by 28th February 2019.

The conference fee is €100 and should be paid by 15th March 2019. It will cover coffee breaks, an official dinner, conference materials and publication costs. Travel expenses as well as the cost of accommodation shall be covered by the participant. There is a possibility to book a hotel room. For further information please contact the organizers.

Papers accepted for publication are planned to appear in the "Acta Albaruthenica" journal.
