An invitation to teachers, scholars, students, and other adventurers.
You could spend next summer at the beach. Or you could step into another world.
A world where you discuss business plans with a professional witch in Romania, collect legends of Bronze Age cities in Russia, record Belarusian songs transplanted to Siberia, or witness the revival of traditional religions in Russia’s Altai Mountains.
We sponsor folklore expeditions which need your help to document traditional cultures. Led by experienced scholars, our volunteers make pictures, recordings, interviews and videos. These go to scholarly archives to be held in trust for future generations, and our volunteers go home with an expanded view of the human family.
We arrange for food, lodging, transport and interpreters. You provide curiosity and helping hands. No special skills required. Just an open mind, and a willingness to leave the familiar behind.
