Summary 

This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The Defense Language & National Security Education Office (DLNSEO) provides strategic direction and program oversight to the military departments, Defense Field Activities and the Combatant Commands on present and future requirements related to language, regional expertise and culture.


Responsibilities

As a PROGRAM ANALYST at the GS-0343-11/12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Managing Language Flagship Programs under the National Security Education Program.
  • Articulating Language Flagship requirements as a representative of a component/agency; resolving varying Flagship implementation problems by providing recommendations to both management officials and university Flagship points of contact; and providing on-site assistance when necessary.
  • Advising students, faculty, deans, and program administrators at these locations to ensure successful implementation and administration of Language Flagship programs.
  • Using qualitative and quantitative analysis to monitor the relative effectiveness of Flagship programs and related initiatives. Based on the results of assessment testing, analyzing trends in program performance and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyzing and recommending the program budget for all assigned Flagship programs. Responsible for grant management relating to the assigned Flagship programs.
  • Serving as the principal advisor to Boren Flagship Scholars and ROTC cadets and midshipmen in the Language Flagship program, all of whom have a requirement to serve in the federal government or the military as subsequent to their award.
  • Assisting in preparing responses to Congressional inquiries pertaining to the Flagship program.
