Funding: Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) Area Studies Fellowship Program

My name is Bruna Celic and I am the Program Assistant for the Transatlantic Leadership program at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA). I am writing to share the call for applications for CEPA’s 2021 Title VIII Central and Eastern European (CEE) Area Studies Fellowship Program that may be of interest to your students or alumni.

 

The Title VIII CEE Area Studies Fellowship is a highly competitive program that provides American graduate-level students, post-doctoral scholars, and early career professionals with the opportunity to gain

expertise and strengthen their strategic knowledge of Central and Eastern Europe and U.S.-CEE relations. The program will allow fellows to research and analyze a proposed topic or issue related to a specific CEE country or sub-region at CEPA. The main goal of the fellowship program is to cultivate U.S. expertise in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and to develop a relevant and timely analysis of the CEE region for the U.S. policy community.

 

The fellowship offers a stipend of $3,500 per month and an established platform for a virtual program. Fellows will be required to write an analytical paper for publication and conduct (virtual) briefings with the wider U.S. policy and expert community on their research and analytical findings. The 2021 program is expected to run from late-March through late-September 2021.

 

Fellows will work closely with world-class experts in the CEE region, including CEPA’s President and CEO Dr. Alina Polyakova, Senior Fellow Edward Lucas, Pershing Chair LTG (Retired) Ben Hodges, Director for Transatlantic Leadership Program Milda Boyce, and Nonresident Senior Fellows Merle Maigre and Katarzyna Pisarska who will offer fellows guidance on their research and analysis. CEPA will also provide a vast network of contacts and partner organizations in Washington and the CEE region that will allow fellows to build ties within and among the U.S. and CEE expert and policy communities.
