Job: Lecturer in contemporary Eastern European History, Sacred Heart University

The Department of History in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for an
ongoing, renewable non-tenure track Lecturer position in 20th and 21st century European
history with a preference for Eastern Europe to begin fall 2022. Area of specialization open.
Ability to use digital methods and to reference public history in some courses a plus. The
position carries a four-course per semester teaching load, with electives in the specialty areas
and three courses in the Western or Global Civilization general education courses. Additional
duties include student advising, service to the university, research, and occasionally teaching
the senior capstone course.
Requirements:
 A PhD in History is required by the time of appointment, the end of August 2022.
 Prior teaching experience is preferred.

About the Department of History:
The Department of History is a collegial group of historians who are dedicated to teaching and
learning in their areas of specialization: the United States, Latin America, Western Europe, East
Asia, the Middle East and Classical history. We offer courses and leadership that support
programs across campus including Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Irish Studies and
courses at the Dingle, Ireland campus, Global Studies, Health Sciences, Middle Eastern Studies,
Education certification, the 3+3 law program, general education, study abroad, internships and
service learning. We are active scholars, assisted by the University with financial support and
release time. We are dedicated instructors to all students in our courses and mentors to our
majors, who pursue careers in secondary education, higher education, business, government
and law among others.
