Job: Assistant Professor of Slavic and Eurasian Studies, UT Austin

The Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning September 2023 at the rank of assistant professor. The position is open regarding disciplinary and thematic emphasis, but preference will be given to scholars specializing in studies of the former Russian and Soviet empires and their borderlands (including Chinese borderlands), and, especially, Ukrainian, or Central Asian Studies. Candidates working in transdisciplinary areas including indigeneity, racialization, and racism(s); critical and literary theory; or policy and security studies will also be prioritized. We seek candidates who will uphold our commitment to equal opportunity policies and contribute to the diversity of our leading public R1 institution through their teaching, research, and service. We encourage scholars who are interested in mentoring students, including those in our dual degree (M.A.) programs and in our new Global Disinformation Lab, to apply. Scholars interested in working with the growing faculty and affiliates of the UT Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, a Title VI National Resource Center (2022-2025), are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field for appointment as Assistant Professor or expect to obtain it within a year of joining the faculty as Instructor. Teaching experience is required. We are interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research and service.
