CFA: Funded PhDs in Russian, University of Bristol

Deadlines: January 16 and January 30, 2023

Applications are now open for the PhD program in Russian at the University of Bristol for September 2023 entry.

There are two possible funding routes:

University scholarships / graduate teaching assistantships (deadline 30 January 2023)

The Southwest and Wales Doctoral Training Consortium (deadline 16 January 2023).

Potential applicants are asked to contact the Head of Subject, Dr Connor Doak, in the first instance to discuss their research proposal. Please do this well in advance of the above deadlines.

Both funding routes are highly competitive. Applicants are expected to have a Master's degree in Russian or another relevant discipline, an original research proposal for a thesis of 80,000 words, excellent academic writing skills in English, and (at minimum) a good reading knowledge of Russian.

Applicants can get a sense of the research in the department and potential supervisors here:

Successful applicants will be part of a vibrant School of Modern Languages with a growing community of postgraduate scholars.
