Following the success of the International Workshop on Post-Soviet Diaspora(s) in Western Europe, 1991-2017 (Lisbon / Cascais, Portugal, December 2017; call for papers: https://aps.pt/pt/ call-for-papers-newsletter- aps-no-470/ , program: http://www.igot. ulisboa.pt/evento/ international-workshop/ ), we have the pleasure to announce our Second International Conference on Post-Soviet Diaspora(s) in Western Europe, 1991-2019.
We invite contributions from anthropologists, sociologists, geographers, historians, demographers and others; we welcome papers both from senior researchers and from scholars who are completing their dissertation or have just received their PhD. There is a limited number of places.
We will consider all pertinent proposals, but priority will be given to presentations addressing these three issues:
- The economic and financial crisis and its aftermath: post-soviet migrants in Southern Europe, 2019;
- The religious dimension in post-soviet diasporic identities in Western Europe;
- Central Asian migrants in Western Europe.
Abstracts of up to 300 words and a short bio (50 words) should be sent to elenabulakh@campus.ul.pt AND antonioeduardo@campus.ul.
The language of the conference is English.
Speakers who request it - one per accepted paper - will be offered accommodation by the organization in Fátima, 10 km. from Ourém (three nights - December 15/16/17 - in a twin room); local transportation will be provided. Ourém and Fátima (famous for its sanctuary) are towns north of Lisbon, easy to reach by bus (1h 30m from the airport). Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any support with travel expenses.
