Job: Part-Time Language Instructor, Syracuse

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking Part-Time Instructor(s) to teach 4-credit section(s) of Russian 101 and 201 in the Fall 2022 semester, which begins August 29, 2022 (appointment begins on August 22, 2022). Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.


RUS 101 – Russian I

Introductory proficiency-based course which prepares students to understand, speak, read, and write in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Russian.


RUS 201 – Russian III

Continuing proficiency-based course which refines and expands previously acquired linguistic skills in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Russian.


Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree required; native or near-native fluency required. Experience in university-level teaching required.


Responsibilities

It is understood that teaching assignment may include:

 Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

 Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

 Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.

 Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

 Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

 Meeting all designated class periods.

 Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

 Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.

 Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

 Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
