Course: Online Masters of Social Work Degrees

Online MSW Degrees

MSW programs were developed in an effort to help students gain knowledge of the social environment and the people within it. There are many fields that focus on individuals directly or the improvement of society, but this is the only field that blends both entities. The advancement of individuals and the environment rely heavily on the utilization of public services, advocacy, and support. This is exactly what MSW programs help to promote within their students.

The Proliferation of the Online MSW

In response to the high popularity of these degree programs, universities across the country are offering MSW programs online, in addition to the traditional on-campus format. Colleges are also offering unique MSW programs that help more students enter an accredited program, including: MSW programs with no GRE requirements, Online programs are becoming a powerhouse for students seeking this degree program, due to the flexible nature of instruction and time-frames. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE, cswe.orgcurrently accredits 69 online MSW programs in the U.S., and is continuing to accept applications from accreditation from universities seeking accreditation.

CFA: REEES MA, University of Oregon

Deadline: February 1, 2023

The Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies Program at the University of Oregon (REEES) invites applications for its two-year M.A. degree. REEES is the home of undergraduate and graduate programs in all fields connected to Russia, Eastern Europe, and former Soviet Eurasia at the University of Oregon.

REEES is one of the oldest programs devoted to the study of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia in the United States. Established in 1968, it was a founding institutional member of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, now the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies. REEES today reflects a long history of interdisciplinary scholarly interaction. Our roster of participating faculty members and numerous associated, emeritus, and courtesy faculty comprises innovative and committed teachers, with distinguished and in many cases internationally-recognized records of scholarly publication. The Master’s program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies is inherently interdisciplinary, combining area studies with a concentration in a discipline. You may take courses that deal with Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia in a host of departments across the UO (Anthropology, Art History, Business, Comparative Literature, Geography, Journalism, Law, Linguistics, Music, History, Political Science, Religious Studies, and Sociology) and count them toward your REEES M.A, provided that one-third of your work for the course deals with the region. However, you are expected to pursue a concentration in one of three broad fields: Russian Literature, Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian History, or Contemporary Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. Graduate students working in the social sciences or professional fields such as Journalism or Business typically opt to pursue the third option.

Application deadline is Feb 1. For further information please go to our website, http://reees.uoregon.edu/.

CFA: MA Program in Russian, E European, & Eurasian Studies, UT Austin

Deadline: January 5, 2023

The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at The University of Texas at Austin is a two-year multidisciplinary program that offers advanced training for those qualified students who seek an integrated knowledge of the language, history, society and culture of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Eurasia. This graduate degree offers the opportunity to create an individually tailored program. Upon graduation, students will have an extensive understanding of the country or countries of specialization, including a working knowledge of one of the region’s languages. The program primarily serves students preparing for professional careers and those seeking an M.A. before pursuing a professional career trajectory or Ph.D. in a particular discipline.

Dual-Degree M.A. Programs with CREEES

In addition to the standard M.A. program, we currently offer five dual-degree programs, in which students can work towards M.A.s in two disciplines at The University of Texas. These programs are structured in such a way that students can earn both masters degrees simultaneously in approximately three years; students must fulfill all requirements for both degrees.

Students have found that this multidisciplinary approach allows them to respond to an increased need in both the public and private sectors for specialists with a thorough understanding of the culture, economics, geography, history and politics of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Students must apply to both programs in order to be considered for the dual-degree program. *Please note that the admission deadlines for other programs may be earlier than the deadline for the CREEES program.

Announcing: NYU Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia Masters and Undergraduate Research Symposia

We are excited to announce the launch of our new annual master’s research symposium and undergraduate research symposium! This Spring, we will host 20 undergraduates and 20 master’s students at two separate symposia for a day of presentation, discussion, networking, and exploration!

We invite presentation proposals from undergraduates and master’s students enrolled at universities in the Northeastern USA (including Washington DC) who are pursuing or have pursued research projects, internships, or other opportunities related to Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. Each accepted participant presenting a research project will be placed onto a panel organized by format and theme, will receive feedback from a discussant, and will be given time to discuss questions with the audience. Accepted participants presenting on experiences in the field will be placed on a single panel, and will get the chance to discuss with both a moderator and the audience. All participants are highly encouraged to create well-polished presentations, including slides.

Each separate symposium will run for one day in the Jordan Center. Symposia will feature keynote speakers, and will each conclude with a networking dinner off-campus. All accepted participants will have their travel costs covered by the Jordan Center, as well as one night in a hotel close to campus.
